Cole Says Turner Mortgage Relief Bill Is Impossible

In a July 12, 1932 letter to Governor Dan Turner, Representative Cyrenus Cole argues that a federal bill to refinance farm and other real estate mortgages would require untold billions, would be general rather than special, and would demand new taxes or borrowing, making such relief impractical. He suggests a special legislative session if Turner believes in the plan.

Why Not Call Legislature

Cyrenus Cole argues against national mortgage refinancing and currency inflation. He suggests Iowa lawmakers test such ideas locally, notes Congress strains, urges confidence to drive recovery, and criticizes Washington focus while praising Midwestern farmers.

A wife asks about reconciliation with a husband who pursued a younger woman, with Miss Manners advising a cautious second chance.
