Iowa City Dairy Queen seeks sign law change after tornado
Tracy McWane co owner of the Riverside Drive Dairy Queen asks Iowa City to amend an ordinance barring signs within 100 feet or on roofs so a replica of the lost neon sign can be mounted on the shop roof. The sign predates the 1961 relocation and the plan follows storm damage across several local businesses. The city plans to replace damaged historic signs if they are integral to a property's historic identity and approved by planners.
