Jack Scanlan 83 of Cedar Rapids died July 9 2017 after a lung cancer diagnosis. He retired from National Oats Co as vice president of purchasing after 36 years, leaving a wide circle of friends and a devoted family including daughters Lisa Getz and Karen Scanlan. Linda Loos Scarth 76 of Cedar Rapids died July 3 2017 of mesothelioma at Hospice of Mercy Hiawatha Iowa. She married Robert Scarth in 1962 and leaves daughter Jennifer Short sister Jane Loos and grandson Ethan Short. Her career spanned education librarianship and pediatrics with teaching positions at Brenau Auburn and Mount Mercy College. The couple published Deep Nature in 2009 and a 2018 Cedar Rapids Museum of Art photography exhibit will honor them.
Maxine Louise Gibbs 68 of Cedar Rapids formerly Manchester died July 10 2017 She is survived by her boyfriend Howard daughter Lisa Michelson Shellsburg Iowa and brothers Jim Bailey and Lester Bailey Jr Cedar Rapids Preceded in death by her mother and father No services will be held.
