Cedar Rapids launches RipRoar youth triathlon for 6 to 15 year olds
Cedar Rapids native Michael Zimmerman, founder of RipRoar, brings the youth triathlon series back to Cherry Hill Park on July 22. The event offers three age groups 6–8 9–11 and 12–15 with age appropriate distances and a $50 early registration rising to $55 after a Sunday deadline.
RipRoar Youth Triathlon Series Set for July 22
The event starts at 8 a.m. at Cherry Hill Park Cedar Rapids with three age brackets: Juniors 6 to 8 swim 50 m bike 2 miles run 800 m Intermediates 9 to 11 swim 100 m bike 4 miles run 1 mile Seniors 12 to 15 swim 200 m bike 6 miles run 2 miles. Registration at unproarevents.com or Cherry Hill Park July 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. Cost is 50 before Sunday 55 after. Zimmerman, who calls it a highlight of his calendar, hopes to inspire kids from beginners to devoted racers.

Flood the Run raises funds for Salvation Army and Matthew 25
Early Bird registration ends Sunday for Flood the Run a 2.7 mile family event at Ellis Park Cedar Rapids on August 12. Proceeds benefit Salvation Army and Matthew 25 with online signup at crfloodtherun.com. Early rates 30 dollars for ages 11 and up 15 dollars for children 10 and under. After Sunday rates rise to 40 and 20. The event features water themed obstacles and post race activities and needs volunteers.
