East Iowa school board seats open in September election
A number of longtime incumbents will not seek re election or face re election this fall as vacancies appear on area school boards. Iowa City and College Community boards see departures while incumbents Randy Bauer Norm Zahradnik plan to run again. Clear Creek Amana also has two seats up for election.

Filing dates run today through 5 p m August 5 for Solon and Lone Tree school boards. Nomination papers are available from the Johnson County auditor or the district secretary with signatures equal to 1 percent of electors or 100, minimum 10. Directors may require district residency for signers. Incumbents and nominees must meet U S citizenship age and residency rules.

Wellman resident asks city to pay water line costs after tower spill
