Iowa State University psychologist Ed Donnerstein and colleagues report that under certain conditions erotic material raises aggression, especially by men toward women. The study cites stag films and a violent clip from The Wild Bunch as factors that amplified hostile responses after harsh evaluations, with stronger effects in men.

Lester Smith, 68, of 336 29th St NW, is citys first open heart surgery patient. He praises the operation performed by Drs. William Meffert and Wilson Strong after a 44 1 2 hour procedure with a 10 member team. Veins from his right leg replaced defective arteries in a three bypass pattern. The heart was stopped and supported by machinery during the operation.
Cedar Rapids residents may still park campers in driveways and perform light maintenance under a revised zoning ordinance. The planning commission will hear feedback at 7:30 p m July 27 before sending the proposal to the city council. Earlier critiques centered on bans on repairs in residential areas and front yard parking for campers and heavy vehicles. The revised rules allow some driveway work while prohibiting major repairs and engine rebuilds.
