Scientists Accused of Alien Links at Oak Ridge
The House Un-American Activities Committee charged that atomic scientists at Oak Ridge Tennessee are in subversive communication with foreign groups and that their activities threaten national security. The six month inquiry found technicians connected to the Oak Ridge plant involved in dealings with outsiders and forming societies to promote world government. The report, written by investigator Ernie Adamson, warned security officers that civilian control of Oak Ridge could spark trouble within six months. The committee did not name individuals and noted inter connected scientific societies in multiple cities. Rep J Parnell Thomas introduced the report at a House atomic energy hearing.
