Des Moines IA—The Iowa state health department will wage a two week campaign against smallpox starting November 1. Dr J M Hayek said the plan, approved at a semi annual health heads meeting with Gov George A Wilson, targets a high Iowa incidence. Four groups will lead the effort including the state medical society county societies lay health groups and the state health department. The department will supply free literature and vaccine distribution through local pharmacists, funded by the department. He noted vaccination rates lag without special outreach and cited Iowa 1930 38 reported cases far below New York and adjacent states.
