UI to end 66 year lease of Macbride Nature Area
University of Iowa will exit its 66 year lease of the 485 acre Macbride Nature Recreation Area when it expires July 1 2029 after a review found $14.8 million in repairs and nearly $1 million annual maintenance costs. The move affects programs including School of the Wild and Iowa Raptor Project while seeking new locations for outdoor K 12 learning.
