Traveling with Cougars What Lease Brings to Public Outreach
Arlington Texas promoter Tom Lease founder of Cougars Unlimited travels with a contingent of cougar mascots to promote Mercury car promotions across the United States. He combines educational programs about the big cats with promotional appearances funded by auto dealers, reaching hundreds of thousands yearly. Lease notes the program educates on predators and environment while avoiding dangerous household pet implications. The cats are born in captivity and kept youthfully used in schools, with handlers trained to guide animal behavior. Lease emphasizes safety and responsible ownership, warning that exotic pets often fail as homes despite hopeful interest.
