Polish Major Flies Family From Behind Iron Curtain to West
Polish Air Force Major Richard Obacz piloted a trainer over the Baltic coast and Berlin wall, landing at Templehof after a stealth 110 mile flight with his wife Mary and two boys. He said years of repression under communism pushed him to seek life in the Free West. The family was secreted to West Germany for questioning by U.S. personnel.
