Beetles Threaten Gardens and Crops Across Iowa

Japanese beetles established on the East Coast by 1916 and spread west. They damage grapes beans corn and lawns as grubs and skeletonize foliage as adults. Experts advise against home spraying due to bee harm while noting chemical control is limited and beetles risk defoliation but rarely kill plants.
