Two Museums Offer Steam Train Excursions This Season
Two museums offer turn of the century steam rides and antique rail equipment. The Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom Wisconsin runs daily steam trips through Labor Day weekend and weekends into mid October aboard a 1900 era depot line to Quartzite Lake with about 50 000 passengers a season. Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois bills itself as the nation’s largest passenger railroad museum with 140 cars and locomotives, plans five miles of track and a May 1 to October 15 season.
