Local Woman Builds English Bungalow During Hospital Stay
Naomi Doebel reports Mrs. John Denny a department store executive and housewife planned a new English bungalow at 406 Twenty-first Street NE during recovery. The sun deck sits atop a street level garage with a recessed entry and a high terrace overlooking Franklin High School grounds. The design features a maple kitchen, a blue tinted master bedroom, cream walls with ivory draperies, a large living room with fireplace, and a planned basement recreation room with an attic insulation project for extra sleeping space. Built by Kenneth C. Koh, the home uses oil heating, brick exterior above ground, and includes a sun deck, stone retaining walls, and an off-street layout designed for ease of access and hospitality.
