Cedar Rapids man held on animal neglect charges
A Cedar Rapids man faces seven counts of animal neglect plus two other charges after authorities found a mother pit bull and seven puppies living in filthy, starved condition at a home on Fifth Street NW. One three month old puppy died. six remaining puppies, underweight and covered in waste, were removed and are being cared for by Animal Care & Control. The mother and pups are recovering after being fed normally. breeding requires a $50 permit per litter.

C R man charged after tossing dog at wall during argument
Police say 21 year old Michael James Constant threw his girlfriend s 5 pound Yorkshire terrier Princess against a wall or door at their Shamrock Condominiums apartment. The dog survived with neck pain and brain swelling from a likely disk injury. Constant was arrested and jailed.

Couple identified in Palo recreation area deaths
Iowa investigators identified Cody Michael Rhodes and Courtney Lynn Rhodes both 31 and 27 as the pair found dead inside a parked car at Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area north of Palo. Autopsies pending. Officials say the deaths appear isolated and the park remains open.
