Cedar Rapids bids to host world horseshoe tournament
Cedar Rapids aims to host the 2009 World Horseshoe Pitching Tournament with a July 2 pitch in Ardmore Oklahoma and a bid competition against Springfield, Topeka and Cedar Rapids. The two week event would draw players from the US, Canada and beyond, with a $114000 prize last year and as many as 1800 entrants possible. The local club promotes more courts, a larger purse, and ice arena constraints as hurdles while maintaining league nights at Ellis Park.
