Growing Daylilies in Spring for Best Blooms

Daylilies thrive in full sun though light shade is tolerated. They need well-drained garden soil and should be planted with the crown at or no more than one inch below soil. Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart and water in the morning. Avoid planting near maple, poplar, or beech trees as they compete for moisture and nutrients.
