Nuclear spent fuel storage plan outlined for Duane Arnold
The plan calls for 10 dry cask storage modules holding spent fuel at the Duane Arnold site with room for expansion to about 80 modules. Each module contains stainless steel canisters with 61 bundles of fuel and vents for cooling, guarded by two security fences and reinforced concrete. Completion is slated for mid October with delivery of canisters beginning in 2003 and total project cost around 14 million dollars.
