Four Cedar Rapids projects attract low bids under estimates
At the Cedar Rapids city council, four projects drew bids below engineer estimates. E and F Cement and Asphaltic Paving Co led the paving with 493 292.71, while Quad City Construction and Cedar Valley Corp posted around 544 000 each. Zeidler Inc led storm sewer bids at 56 912.15, Bowler Construction offered 16 800 for north side sanitary sewer, and E and F topped sidewalk reconstruction at 108 622.35. Contracts were authorized for the first three projects. sidewalk work will be studied further before award.

Kirkwood to Build Truck Driving Range on Campus
Kirkwood Community College begins a four day project to construct a 300 by 800 foot gravel driving range at the southwest corner of the campus on Kirkwood boulevard SW. Iowa Army National Guard labor will donate time while the college funds drainage, materials, and six guard members living expenses from the 224th engineering battalion. The old facility becomes full time truck parking and the project replaces the existing trainee area.
