Hiawatha Council OKs Annexation Of Church Land
The Hiawatha city council Thursday approved voluntary annexation of four acres on Tenth Avenue for United Church of Christ plans to build at the west end of town. The church has met in Hiawatha Elementary School. Residents on Oak Street asked that their block be included in this year's paving program, but the council did not act on that petition. Plans for the 1967 paving program are not yet set. A special meeting will be held to consider the budget and schedule a public hearing.
