Five Sullivan brothers to be honored with Arlington markers
Waterloo family successors credit Army veteran Harry Burtner of North Carolina for securing five new Arlington gravemarkers for George Francis Joseph Madison and Albert Sullivan who died together in 1942 aboard the USS Juneau after the Guadalcanal battle. The markers include birth and death dates Navy rank and posthumous Purple Heart and campaign ribbons. Burtner, who learned of the brothers from a History Channel program, pushed the project after reading about the Sullivans lifelong dedication to serving together.
