The Tri Motor, an early airliner with wood construction, helped start coast to coast service in 1929 and carried 12 to 17 passengers. Ford built 199 Tri-Motors after acquiring Stout in 1925. Lightning Strikes Forest Church During Evangelist Sermon
An evangelist at First Baptist Church in Forest Ohio led prayers for penance when the steeple was struck by lightning. The strike set the church on fire and blew the sound system out. A member described the moment as awesome as lightning leapt through the microphone and enveloped the preacher, who was uninjured. Services resumed briefly before the congregation evacuated.
