France Poised to Harness Tides First with Rance Estuary Project
France plans to become the first nation to generate tidal power from the sea with an $88 million dam on the Rance estuary near Dinard and Saint Malo. The project aims to produce about 544 million kilowatt hours annually, using reversible turbines across the estuary with completion targeted around 1967.
