Decorah eagle D12 dies likely from electrocution near nest
The first eagle hatched at Decorah nest this spring was found dead Sunday at a power pole base near the Decorah Fish Hatchery. Raptor Resource Project director Bob Anderson said the death was probably electrocution. A temporary insulation shield was added to the pole and permanent insulation installed later to prevent future incidents. D14, the sibling with a satellite transmitter, is reportedly fine.
