Blair Klinefelter, a night custodian at Horace Mann Elementary in Iowa City, settled with the school district for a little over $100 to cover two days of pay after painting the wrought iron sign on his own time. Lenora Simanek in her early 80s says she cannot bend her knee after a Thursday pit bull attack on her collie in Walker. The incident marked the second attack by Rich Jacou's dog, the first occurring in December when the dog attacked the collie and was struck by a neighbor. Authorities review charges under a village ordinance requiring muzzles and leashes for pit bulls within Walker. Simanek, treated at St Luke's Hospital and later released, wants action but not necessarily charges, while the dog was examined at Frey Animal Clinic and released after rabies tests showed no disease.
