Oil Spill Hits Yellowstone River Near Laurel Montana

A ruptured ExxonMobil 12 inch pipeline under the Yellowstone River near Laurel caused a spill estimated at 750 to 1,000 barrels. A 25 mile plume fouled riverbanks, prompted evacuations along a 20 mile stretch, and shut down downstream intakes as crews deployed booms and absorbent material.
