Brokaw tends a multi area garden with a pond, stone path, and quirky features including a Gaste guest house and repurposed items. She created most elements herself combining a vegetable, shade, and pond garden with distinctive hostas and Polish clematis.
The Eastern Iowa Pond Society hosts its 10th annual Pond Tour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday July 10 in Cedar Rapids Marion and Springville rain or shine admission is free for under 18 and tickets may be bought at any site Proceeds go to community beautification projects with listings of organizers and contact numbers. The event includes heritage garden at Plum Grove and the 1844 retirement home of Iowa's first territorial governor.
