Renewed Iowa interest in living wills draws attendees
Cedar Rapids attorney David Elderkin notes growing demand for living wills as medical tech advances. Mercy Medical Center hosts a July 31 forum on the topic with advance registration urged. St. Luke's Hospital reports high interest with past forums drawing hundreds. Iowa law since 1985 limits withholding nutrition and life support, with debates on amending rules to permit more withdrawal in terminal cases.
