Baldrige spending hit in internal probe
Internal investigators found Commerce Secretary Malcolm Baldrige violated Reagan era spend limits with 15 271 for office redecorations while other outlays totaling 55 706 including dining room expansion, badge funds and bathroom renovation were deemed reasonable. The report faulted carpet and upholstering purchases as unnecessary though supported bathroom upgrades.
