Milwaukee snapped a losing streak with a 10 2 victory over the Cincinnati Redlegs in Cincinnati as a resurgent Ed Mathews fueled the win with three hits including his 23rd homer to reclaim the major league lead. The win kept Milwaukee one half game behind the Dodgers.
Roosevelt stays unbeaten in the city seventh and eighth grade baseball race with a 7-3 win over Daniels Park Wednesday. Franklin defeats Wilson juniors 4-3 in extra innings as Peterson's sacrifice drives in Rubek and Arnell in the sixth. Beurle earns the win for Franklin.
In Industrial B section Kropp and Grafton, Famous and Law Church League teams faced off. Audrews led early scoring, with a 6 10 final tally, while Hines and Langton contributed in defense as the Wasters team faced tough setbacks.

In a brisk playoff clash at Ellis Park Wednesday, the Packers beat Whitey’s Auto Sales 5 to 3 in extra innings to clinch the Major Open half title. A thousand-plus crowd saw both teams squander chances before two ninth inning runs gave Packers the win.
