Cedar Rapids Electric Light looks to $350000 plant upgrade

The Electric Light and Power company plans a $350000 project to remove outdated equipment and add parts at its Cedar Rapids generating plant. The upgrade raises steam capacity to meet growing demand while maintaining high equipment standards. T P Rogers 70 Dies Sudden Prominent Insurance Executive

T P Rogers 70 prominent Iowa insurance executive died suddenly from a heart attack Saturday night after returning from a California trip. Born February 17 1865 in Boone he ran a cereal mill before joining Bankers Life in 1904 becoming general agent in eastern Iowa. He later led the Autocrat Oil Burner Co and served in civic groups and the Knights of Columbus. He was survived by Mrs Rogers and his family with his son in law Wallace Darling purchasing his agency in 1931.

Cold Blooded Murder Plot Tied to Robbery

William Monday night con fessed to robbing and murdering Howard Dickinson, prominent New York attorney, with accomplices including three party girls Loretta Jackson Florence Jackson and Lillian Winter. Schweitzer admitted premeditation and that the motive was robbery, saying the pistol was kept for months and the women aided by delivering the dying man’s coat and vest for valuables totaling about 150 dollars. The confession places blame on the trio and links escapes to a Chicago garage.
