Iowa Adds Tougher Crimes and Education Funds in New Laws
New laws create crimes targeting child exploitation and deepfake pornography, looting and organized retail theft, and swatting penalties. They also establish a task force on special education delivery, redirect funds to AEAs, raise teacher minimum salaries, fund school support staff, regulate traffic cameras, require school resource officers in large districts, permit armed permits for some staff, cap THC in hemp products, require foreign farmland ownership reporting, mandate insurance coverage for cancer and dense breast tumor tests, and lower teen driving age limits with a new restricted license system.
