Major Aircraft Search For Balloonist Begins
A large at sea search for balloonist Karl Thomas started with 10 aircraft from the United States and allies. Thomas who plans to cross the Atlantic in a 90 foot balloon has not been heard since Sunday night. Coast guard planes and international crews scoured millions of square miles northeast of his last position east of New York City and south of Cape Sable Nova Scotia. Ground crews remain hopeful the balloon remains aloft despite power losses from an electrical storm and a faulty radio system.
