Canadian Hogs Move to US Despite Export Controls in June
The Foreign Crops and Markets bulletin notes continued Canadian live hog shipments to the United States in June driven by higher US prices. From Jan 1 to June 19, 1941, Canada exported 18,751 hogs to the US, with most (14,491) from British Columbia after price boosts in May. Prices in Vancouver and Portland influenced cross-border movement, while Canada expanded bacon and ham exports to the United Kingdom and adjusted marketing limits to meet British needs.
