Linn County Republicans to Decide Delegates Instructions
Linn county Republicans meet at the courthouse at 11 am Saturday to decide whether the forty four delegates to the state convention will be instructed how to vote on state auditor and state railroad commissioner. B M Richardson and Karl Fischer are the favored candidates, with the Des Moines held convention July 19 and Cedar Rapids judicial convention July 26. Thirty delegates come from the first district and R W Greene is county chairman with Lial D Ross acting as clerk.

The board of supervisors awarded a contract for a 108 by 26 foot high truss bridge with concrete floor on county highway B between Anamosa and Central City. Perry Jayne of Cedar Rapids won with a bid of 11772. Other bidders were Clinton Engineering Clinton IA Lundgren and Reis Des Moines and Olsen Construction Waterloo.

Mrs Adelia I Bachtell 88 mother of Warner C Bachtell and Mrs Leafie Henderson died Thursday at McGregor hospital after a brief illness. She came to Clayton county as a child, married Thomas D Bachtell in 1862 and lived most of her life here. She celebrated her 88th birthday in McGregor and fractured her hip June 2. She was a longtime member of the Woman's Relief Corps.
