Auditor cites $436K improper spending in Iowa program
State Auditor Rob Sand reports more than 436000 in public funds were improperly disbursed through an Iowa Workforce Development program. Funds routed to the Central Iowa Workforce Development Board and then to Children and Families of Iowa included 324586 paid to administrator Jodi Spargur Tate and about 100000 diverted to her relatives for rent utilities and cell service. The probe highlights weak subrecipient monitoring and calls for stronger safeguards and internal controls, with no charges filed yet. The findings have been shared with local and state law enforcement and prosecutors.
