Iowa City man accused of breaking into several vehicles

Iowa City police say William Ortiz, 20, was located after a disturbance on South Riverside Drive early January 21. He was bleeding and taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals. Police say multiple Basswood Lane vehicles had been broken into with cash and other items missing. Ortiz faces about a dozen counts of third degree burglary of an unoccupied motor vehicle. He posted a $1,000 bond per count and was released. Authorities seek Vincent Connors, 25, who did not return to a Cedar Rapids halfway house. Connors, convicted of first degree robbery in 2011, and Ethan Ayers, 19, were linked to a 2010 beating and robbery on First Street. Police ask for tips.
