Hiawatha loses its mayor today
Dale Guthridge resigns as Hiawatha mayor after 32 years to take a Rockwell promotion in Utah. The design engineer says he will miss the job and notes tax restraint helped the fast growing Iowa town while his wife works at a local elementary school. He leaves a city that grew from 2400 to about 4800 during his tenure.

Roof collapse over Kwik Trip pumps in Waukon
A roof over gas pumps fell at a downtown Waukon Kwik Trip Saturday as three S W Construction workers were on the roof to clear deep snow. All three workers escaped injury. the area was roped off and the store reopened later the same day. This marks a second Northeast Iowa Kwik Trip roof collapse in six months after an August Lansing incident.
