The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 744.06 a loss of 4.29 in trading on Friday its lowest finish since November 26, 1963. Of 1,585 issues, 901 fell 421 rose and 263 were unchanged as 12.33 million shares changed hands.

Cedar Rapids Hog Market Prices Rise on Saturday

Cedar Rapids hog market reports show prices 25 to 50 cents higher on Saturday. Friday bids for country and plant delivered butchers at 200 to 230 pounds ranged 27.75 to 28.25 with sows 23.50 to 24.00 for 300 pounds and lighter. Packers and weight grades carry reductions by weight, 230 to 300 pounds and above, while a spokesman refused details on a related mission and press credentials.

Springville Man Charged After High Speed Chase

Dennis D. Denny, 21, of Springville, was charged with attempting to elude police reckless driving and speeding after a Friday night chase in Cedar Rapids. Officers tried to stop his vehicle at First Avenue and Collins Road NE, it sped away and was stopped at Collins Road and C Avenue NE with help from more squad cars.
