Nebraska Supreme Court voids self defense act
The Nebraska Supreme Court struck down the 1969 self defense act nicknamed the shoot your neighbor law. The ruling stems from a case in which Judith Goodseal of Omaha, accused in a 1969 murder, argued the act affected her actions after a confrontation with Dick Williams of Council Bluffs. The 5-2 decision questions the act’s constitutionality and its alignment with protecting individuals from harm or property loss.
