Gardner was attempting to board the truck driven by Joe McMahon when he fell under the wheel and was fatally injured. He was rushed to hospital and did not regain consciousness. He was the son of Mrs. Dinah Gardner.
In Linn county the automobile license office was stunned when a man walked in Monday with a bag of 1502 pennies to cover a 1934 truck license. By the time staff finished counting, the applicant's name was obscured beneath the title of license business.
