Clayton board earns two perpetual conservation easements
The Clayton County Conservation Board received two donations of perpetual conservation easements from landowners Larry and Margaret Stone and Jeff and Ann Garland. The easements cap future land use, with inspections by the board while daily management stays with owners. Stone property along the Turkey River spans three quarters of a mile, while Garland land along Great River Road near North Buena Vista features timbered bluffs. The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation aided in developing the easements, aiding private ownership and tax obligations.
