Mission Union Elects Officers in Cedar Rapids

Mrs. Robert C. Armstrong was chosen president of the Cedar Rapids Interdenominational Missionary Union at the annual meeting held Friday at Second Christian church. New officers include Mrs. Daniel E. Kerr as vice president and others from local churches. The gathering, with about 400 attending, featured remarks by Mrs. Marguerite Harmon Bro, author and lecturer, on missions and world affairs. The group also announced a World Day of Prayer program set for February 9 at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist church.

St Pauls Camp Fire Guardians To Be Honored At Tea

Camp Fire guardians and mothers from St. Pauls Methodist church will be honored at a Valentine tea on February 13 in the church parlors. Special guests include Miss Jane Garwood and Miss Dorothy Canfield along with several Camp Fire executive board members. Guardians named are Mrs. W. C. Tenney Mrs. Henry Like Mrs. O. E. Long Miss Maye Cass and Mrs. J. D. Houser.

Dinner Meeting At First Congregational Attended By 150

About 150 persons attended the annual dinner meeting of the First Congregational church Friday evening. Dr. C. T. Hickok chaired the business meeting and officers were elected including deacons H. F. Blomquist and Walter T. Hambright, trustees E. E. Schene and Ralph D. Gray, clerk Miss Ella Merriman, treasurer Dr. Alfred W. Meyer, and superintendent Leonard Paulu. Elmer Runkle received thanks for 25 years on the board as he retires, and Mrs. Clara Ristine was praised for long service. Reports covered church work, scouting, and the Cub packs, with 31 new members reported.

Mayflower D A R Chapter Meets At O Meara Home

Forty members and guests attended the Mayflower chapter D A R gathering at Mrs. H. D. O Meara 1903 Bever avenue SE. Delegates and alternates to the state conference in Des Moines were elected. The toy library enrollment reached 156 with loans from the Community House. Don Hines spoke on the FBI. The next meeting is Feb 16 at Mrs. Ralph Walker s home.

Westminster Women Invited to Tea at Local Home

Westminster Presbyterian women are invited to a silver tea hosted at 2307 Ridgeway drive SE by Mrs. James H. Blackstone Jr. on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Mrs. Robert Rogers will review Homeland Harvest by Dr. Arthur Limouze, with assist from Mesdames Barngrover Barron Strate Perry and Nelson. Proceeds go to China for medical supplies.

She, formerly Miss Eleanor Jane Davis of Oelwein, attended Coe and joined Delta Delta Delta before graduating from the University of Iowa.

Local Vinton Bride Weds in Candlelit Ceremony
