Willis Dady Aims to Expand Supportive Housing in Linn County
Willis Dady expands with 13 new supportive housing units aimed at chronically homeless residents. Crystal Carter, a former street outreach case manager now managing the Cedar Rapids building, will combine lived experience with hands on case management to guide tenants toward long term goals. Advocates say Cedar Rapids needs 100 to 150 such units to meet demand as referrals outpace available housing. The Chandler Apartments project began in 2019 after multiple design iterations with an initial cost estimate of 2.9 million dollars, though the 2020 derecho damaged the building.
