Communities oppose Alliant rate hikes across Iowa
More than 60 communities joined the Clean Energy Districts of Iowa to oppose Alliant Energy proposed rate increases for electric and gas services. If approved, residential electric and gas bills would rise starting October, with additional electric hikes planned for 2025. The protests cite higher costs for rural and low income residents and questions about the value of planned grid and renewable investments.
