Cyclist Lippisch completes long cross country ride to San Diego
Cedar Rapids cyclist Alex Lippisch left on October 13 from Cedar Rapids for San Diego and returned 44 days later by bus after two months there. He faced few major problems though kids in Missouri threw cans at him and he endured two flat tires and a broken spoke. He weathered a desert rainfall near Yuma and noted motorists crowding bikes about ten times daily. Lippisch, a 30 year old bike shop worker and Hawkeye Bicycle Association member, plans a return trip this fall to Acapulco Mexico.
