Des Moines investment broker Carleton D. Beh and Lt. Gov. Mr. Mudge, 80, died an hour after the accident. The car was driven by O J Fullenwider of Jewell who collided with a truck driven by A J Cotterbaum of Dyersville. Fullenwider and H W Nessler of Dyersville furniture dealer, owner of the truck, were injured.

John Factor identified Roger Touhy Gustav Schaefer and Albert Kator as part of Touhy’s gang in a Chicago kidnapping case. He testified about being abducted tortured and forced to sign a ransom note while a blanket concealed their faces. He did not identify Eddie McFadden.
Seven minutes after a service station robbery, Dick Knight of San Francisco was arrested a few blocks away with a revolver and $5.50. The attendant John Parks reported being held up and the cash register robbed. Police say Knight staged the incident.

He blamed a collapse in commodity prices for the deep recession and noted a 35 4 percent price drop.
The Iowa Senate approved a measure to raise hunting and fishing license fees to fund a 25 year conservation program. The bill sets hunting at 2 dollars, fishing at 1 dollar, and combined at 2.50 dollars, raising about 125000 dollars yearly. The vote was 32 to 7 and now goes to the House.
