Biofuel boom could help wildlife habitat
Wildlife biologist Tim McCoy says switching ethanol production from corn to switch grass and other high cellulose plants could greatly expand nesting and winter cover for pheasants and upland birds. He notes switch grass is carbon positive, requires less input energy, and could be commercially viable within years with sustainable harvesting and farm bill incentives.
