White House mulls shift of FmHA offices to new Department
White House reorganization plans propose transferring county offices of the Farmers Home Administration into a delivery system of a new Department of Development Assistance. The option appears in a footnote in a draft plan distributed to public-interest groups for reaction. FmHA is the largest rural development agency in USDA, handling loans for low income farmers and programs for community facilities, water systems, and industrial projects.
