School Activities Highlight Snowball Crowning And Plays

Onslow High plans a homeroom snowball event Friday at 7 p.m. in the gym after the basketball game against Monmouth, with a king and queen to be crowned. Other schools report midwinter proms, one-act plays, speech contests, and musical rehearsals as students prepare for upcoming events and awards.

Twelve beginners were selected for the Ge cova Killies Junior Drum and Bugle Corps under director Zim Heddens. Placement Tests Planned at USU Fayette Campus

Upper Town university officials announce high school seniors may take statewide scholarship and placement tests at the Upper Town campus on April 2. The Cal grove-Walker Memorial building hosts exams from 1:00 to 8:13 p.m. The program is run under Cortpus Cram and overseen by Dean Hershel Hendrix.

Mark Helscher of Keota Dies at 32 in Iowa City VA

Mark D Helscher 32 of Keota died Saturday at the Iowa City VA hospital after a period as a patient since February 20. Born March 27 1945 he was a Kenton High School graduate 1943 and served in the army from 195? to 19?2. He operated Gill and Mike's tavern. Tama County Music Festival Set for Traer High School

The third annual Tama County Music Festival will be Monday at 7 45 p m in Traer high school auditorium. Sponsored by the Tama County School Masters Club the event was postponed from fall due to the epidemic. Robert Praitzgraff will conduct the senior chorus and Vincent McCowan of Waterloo the junior high chorus. About 400 in the massed high school chorus and 100 in the junior high chorus will participate. A special small group will perform, with Miss Muth Thotas and Barabara Hanifan as accompanists. Participants meet at 1 30 Monday at Traer school for rehearsal. A Traer Music Club supper will be served. admission 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for students.

Anamosa's Junior Chamber of Commerce plans the Awards and Bosses Night banquet for February 11 at St Patrick's cite. Girl Scout Council to vote on expansion plan

Mt Vernon Derment College director of admission Lowell Reed urges seniors to ignore publicity about crowded colleges.
